Corset Waist Training

Corset Waist Training

This was definitely the shortest lived ‘fad’ that I’ve experienced so far!

Back in January 2015, I’d been hearing a lot of things about corset training and how in the ‘celebrity world’ it was all the range! I saw a sponsored ad on Facebook of a girl in the gym wearing a corset while training and as I’d just recently joined my local gym, an impulse rushed over me. I decided within a few minutes that I wanted a corset. I ordered the corset for £5 through the website on Facebook and a few days later it arrived. To my disappointment it was nothing but a wide elastic band and even though I’d ordered a size bigger than normal, I couldn’t do it up and straight into the bin it went. 😦

I still wanted to do the corset training, so I searched on google to find a company that specialised in waist training corsets. I soon learned that steel boned corsets were the best to use and very popular by serious waist trainers. If I was going to do this, then it had to be a good one!  All my searches kept leading me to a company called Corset Story. I browsed through their corsets and reviews from customers, all in which were great honest reviews. Eventually I found a black, steel boned, under the breast corset that had a lot of positive reviews from beginners to long time corset trainers. I was sold, the website explained how to measure yourself to make sure you buy the best size. As soon as I put the tape measure down, I purchased the corset for £100 without any hesitation.

When the corset arrived the packaging was beautiful! It came it in a huge black box, with a lift off lid and ribbon. Inside the box,  the corset was neatly wrapped in tissue paper ( I wish I’d taken some photos!). I was at work when the corset arrived, so I had to wait until I’d get home to try it on. As soon as I got home, I rushed straight upstairs. The corset was made up of two separate pieces but joined together at the back with laces, and the front had five metal hooks. The fabric was silky and soft to touch, plus you could see and feel the steel bones. It was easy to get the corset on and done up at the front, though it was a challenge tightening the laces at the back. It required two hands (something I’m not very good at) and patience! I tightened the corset the best I could and was loving the figure it gave me when I looked in the mirror.

I decided I would wear it to work the next day! In the morning, I put on a black vest top and the corset on top, then another top over the corset so that no one could see it. The first thing I noticed when I was getting ready for work was that it made my hips stiff when I walked and it was utmost impossible to bend to put my shoes on. As weird as it felt, I just told myself ‘no pain, no gain’. Getting in the car was a challenge as sitting low caused the corset to push up my chest and while I was driving I felt as though my arms were at shoulder height holding onto the steering wheel and they became achy.

Once I got to work my colleagues noticed the difference in my figure straight away and I received some generous comments. I work in an office so sitting at a computer all day is what I do. For the first two hours of sitting with the corset on was OK, but my shoulders were aching as I was sitting in a constant up right position and couldn’t relax my arms, without my chin falling into my boobs. Another thing was that I tied it up too tight as I did feel like I was constantly breathing in. It got to midday,  I’d just eaten my lunch and was walking back to my desk when I decided I wanted to take it off! I’d had enough. The right side of the corset that was on my hip was rubbing too! I asked a friend if she could help me undo the front for the corset as I was struggling. She tried to loosen the laces at the back but they were all muddled, at this point I was panicking that I couldn’t breathe properly. With a bit of force she finally unhooked the front and bless her because she gained a blood blister in the process! As soon as the corset was off, I vowed never to wear it again!

In all seriousness, this is by far one of the stupidest things I’ve ever done! Ladies, if you are reading this because you want to try corset training, please research deep before you put that corset on. Do not just find what the best corset to buy is, but research how to wear one and train your body. Your body takes time, so you should only wear it for a couple of hours everyday for the first few months and never attempt to sleep in it! I didn’t know then what I know about the health implications and the fact that you are moving your organs to achieve a tiny unnatural waist. I’m no expert in corset training as you have read above about my stupidity, so I’ve found some information on how to waist train safely, check it out here How to Waist Train Safely & Effectively – Tips for Success

Right, time for the RATINGS of this ‘fad’
